Sign of life

Whee. While sitting at home after surgery (a septum correction; that's a functional nose job, not a cosmetical one) I stumbled upon my old blog. Wanted you to know I'm still alive and kicking... And at the moment looking ridiculous with a very big swollen nose. But hey, that'll get better.

I'm thinking of re-opening my web log, since I do miss the possibility to share my unwanted opinions and glorious misfortunes with the world. Unfortunately my job and personal life take a lot of time too. Hmm, I'll give it some consideration. ;)

Jump 4 a job

Well, this blog was is temporarily closed. I'm graduating as a pharmacist at the moment and starting to apply for a 'real' job at the moment. I can't even find enough time to spend with my friends right now. I will return though, after all this stress is gone.

But for now... I can't resist posting Madonna's new vid Jump. I'm still on a high when thinking of last month's Confessions Tour concert and I can't wait for the DVD to come out. :)

Gay season

Somehow June, July and August are always the best months to be gay. The season is packed with gay festivities, parties and prides. I partied at the Midzomergrachtfestival in the city of Utrecht last weekend. And oncoming weekend it's 'Roze Zaterdag', the national pride, held in the nearby city of Zwolle this year (about 1 hour by car).

Here are some pictures of the outdoor festivities and indoor afterparties of last weekend's event in Utrecht:

I'm really looking forward to 'Roze Zaterdag' and Amsterdam Pride (1st weekend of August)!!

Guide to the Eurovison Songcontest, Pt. 1

Last Saturday the Eurovision songcontest was held in Europe. And for all those non-European gays out there reading this post: here's a very short guide to the Eurovision Songcontest. Or at least my personal perception of it.

There's something about the Eurovision Songcontest that attracts many gays from all over Europe, me included. Frankly, I have absolutely no clue what it is, but it might be the tacky outfits, the off-note singing and the abundance of over-the-top acts, all presenting themselves as bigger than life... I started to get addicted as early as the age of four, in the year 1980. The contest was the one night a year I was allowed to stay up late and one of the few nights each year my dad was not in control of the remote control.

The first well documented act of gayness outed by this blogger was in the year 1986 (age 10) and was closely related to the Eurovision Songcontest. I grew up in Drenthe, a rural area of The Netherlands, and I've had my basic education on a very small school. I was in a class of just four boys and four girls (the biggest class in many years). Every year we had a school play, preceded by some acts chosen by the school's kids. You're guessing it... my first documented gay act was to persuade my male classmates to lip-sync 'Frizzle Sizzle', that year's Dutch all-girl contestant for the Eurovision Songcontest, for the warm-up to that year's school play. Surprisingly nobody even raised an eyebrow about four boys in skirts doing a lip-sync act... but (oh my) in retrospective I was sooo gay back then! :))

Back in Groningen

Well rested and tanned, I got back home last Tuesday after visiting the parents in Spain. It's just too bad that being well rested and nicely tanned only lasts for a few days when you have to get back to work.

On another note: I just ran into this hilarious VW commercial. I've just watched it several times and laughed my ass off!

Not bad... not bad at all!

The weather on Queensday turned out rather okay. Not very warm, but it was sunny. We had a blast! But summer finally really started several days ago... we're having tropical temperatures now! Weehee! Great for the traditional free Liberation Day Festival (May 5). :)

Queens Day Preparations

I'm very busy packing stuff for Queensday in Amsterdam tomorrow... If you ever visit The Netherlands, this is THE day Amsterdam the entire country goes totally nuts partying. Especially when the weather is good the party is absolutely fabulous:

Unfortunately it will be cold and rainy this year. :( But that won't keep me and my friends from partying until we pass out. Several times. :)

Last Diva Update (for now)

Right now, brand new and fresh on kylie.com: the first official post-chemo pictures of Kylie! The photo is taken by her boyfriend Olivier Martinez during a weekend at the Dolce and Gabbana residence.

And yes, she still looks stunning. Even without her long hair. I'm looking forward to new work; get well (very) soon Kylie! :)

Got em!

My sleepless night paid off: I've got THE tickets. I tried to rest for a few hours before I went to stand in line, but I was too excited to sleep. We were number 8 in line and got the tickets of our choice. So I'll be going to the concert with three very dear friends. Can't wait!

And on another note: When will that d**ned concert DVD of the Re-Invention tour finallay be available? I'm waiting for almost two years now! *sigh* To get in the mood: here's a clip from the 2004 tour. (Also an excuse for trying to post a YouTube link here for the first time.)

The circle is round

The circle is round. My first real post on this blog was about the Madonna concert I went to in 2004. Today, the first post of my re-opening blog is about... the Madonna concert announced today!

YES YES YES, the rumors were true! She’s coming to Amsterdam on September 3rd! Hallelujah! Tickets will go on sale this Saturday, so I’m planning to stand in line at night to get some tickets. They’re ridiculously expensive, but alas. Wouldn’t want to miss it. And I do have the money. :)

Alive and kicking... but not ont The Net recently...

Dear readers, first of all I'd like to apologise for suddenly leaving you without notice. The new year has been very hectic for me; my life has changed and I'm loving it. No, there's no new boyfriend (wouldn't mind though). And no, I (still :( !!) haven't managed to graduate. But I did get rid of my lousy job and found me a new one. And may I add: a much better one! Since I have the new job, I suddenly find myself in a position where my dreaded money problem is gone. I pay my bills, buy food... and suddenly there's money left to go out regularly, buy bags full of new clothes, plan an extra holiday... oh, how I'm lovin' it.

Okay, so here's the deal: this post is the start of a new blog. The next few days I'll be thinking about what to do next. A brand new blog? Continue this blog in a new design? Maybe just continue to post on my new life on this old blog? I'll let you know.

I'll be back! Soon.

New Profile Pic

To get ready for a new year of blogging I've updated my profile picture... taken 3 weeks ago at a friend's place.
